Many of my coaching clients ask me how long to spend on your job search, while in career transition. The answer depends on how motivated which are on land that next job. The amount of effort in a job search will have a direct impact on the results and the time it takes to find a new position. From my perspective, if you are in career transition, looking for a job is your full time job.

Most full-time "40 hours a week jobs" require more than 40 hours worked each week. Most of us spent 30 to 60 minutes commuting each way to work. The amount of time taken to go and work in a full-time employment is likely that 50 to 70 hours a week. Are you spending much time in your search employment?

When I work with career coaching clients, I keep a diary to document their activities and results. In our weekly training call, reviews the activities of the week, the results have been achieved and determine next steps. By documenting their job search activities that have a record of events with the achievements and the effort they put into their job search. If at the end of the week, the magazine pages are blank, they can see their fishing effort was minimal.

If you are looking for work and not getting the results you desire, the track is putting effort in your job search. At the end of the week reflect on their activities and achievements. If you are not satisfied with the results, change your approach next week.
