About 3 million teens decide to leave school each year, the fascinating from the ranks of the under-employed. Of course, there are notable exceptions among them, as young people or businesses notable artistic abilities. But, overall, the damage done to them and the country is enormous. It is my opinion as an educator that the public school system has failed in its mission to provide a meaningful education free tailored to every need and capacity. School districts with emphasis any reason a secondary school diploma can afford to pay significantly higher over a lifetime, there is however another aspect that the system can not address: All children have special needs, not just those with special education label.

A special problem is found in single-parent families: Half of all Black children live in homes only the mother-in accordance with the Center for Educational Statistics (2006), the figure is 25% for Hispanic children and 16% of white students. This factor must be taken into account when considering the causes of early drop-out rates for each ethnic group. Another important issue is the level of income: Many single mothers have to cope with two jobs to make ends meet and can not always rely on close relatives to watch their young children, who face a empty house while returning from school. Alcoholism and drug abuse are factors that also have been a huge impact on the success or failure of children but the main cause lies in the lack of counseling and effective support in the school environment.

When a student enters grade eight secondary school first time, he or she is usually processed very quickly due to the large number of newcomers. Get your calendar that is based on decisions they made while in 8th grade, at least in regard as electives. If they are labeled as special education students, referred to a specialist teacher supervising them their progress or lack of it over the next four years. But even they will not receive the attention they deserve teachers simply do not have the time and / or training to connect emotionally to a child who may be charged with serious psychological baggage. Even school counselors, whose position is indicated with the formation and the time to really a lawyer, complained that the huge amount of paperwork is opposed to a significant-in-one. Each director may be responsible for more than 200 students, a task Herculean, by any means.

The solution is near Graduate Jobs United States is doing just that. Pregnancy, attendance and grades casualties are often the main perpetrators of neglect and attack these problems by pulling out these at-risk students and work with highly qualified professionals. Skills social and employability factors are given according to individual needs. They listen and act them. The cost is about $ 1,500 a year per student an excellent investment for the school district because they lose money every time a student leaves. They have a graduation rate of 80% and employ a large number of teachers retirees are three classes per day to 15 students. But the emphasis not only on academic excellence, is a mentoring program that restores a lot of self-esteem of kids with problems.

School districts, with the help of the federal government can and should focus on saving as many school students at risk as possible in the following manner:

1. One-on-one counseling.

2. Job placement.

3. Vocational training in the area chosen by the student.

4. Restoration of self-esteem through the use of more experienced mentors who listens.

5. Medical support in pregnancy and drug abuse.

6. Obtaining community support.

7. Physical activities, including sports.

8. Compassionate discipline.

9. Restoring hope to work with their families.

10. Careful monitoring for at least five years.
